Our Geographic Information System
computer-mapping program was begun in 1992 under the
direction of Bill Haskins and Jiri Doscocil. The program
was initiated in order to make scientifically valuable spatial data
available to conservationists working on public land protection issues
in the Northern Rockies. In the years since that beginning, and still
under the operational direction of Mr. Haskins, the GIS program has
become highly proficient at performing sophisticated geographic analyses
of conservation problems in order to make complex issues understandable
to the general public.
One of the primary goals
driving the formation of the GIS program was to make
modern computer cartography and spatial data management technology
accessible to a wide variety of conservation groups and individuals. In
addition to non-profit organizations and educational institutions, our
GIS program works with state and federal government agencies in the
United States, as well as the Canadian federal government. For over a
decade our GIS program has served conservation organizations
in the United States and aboard.
