END OF THE ROAD

18 minDVCAM2000

Produced by High Plains Films for the Sierra Club during the debate over the so-called "Clinton Roadless Rule" that ultimately protected millions of acres of roadless country on the National Forest system. The debate here features a number of prominent Montana conservationists. Roadless areas are the last refuges for many of America’s rarest wildlife species. Most of these areas in the lower 48 states are located within the National Forest system. With over a half-million miles of roads already constructed on the National Forests, logging, mining, off-road vehicle use and oil and gas development threaten the handful of roadless areas that remain. END OF THE ROAD offers thought-provoking perspectives on the best use of these last bastions of American wilderness.
